We again present one of our all-time season highlights: the Maximum Surfcamp Surf 'n' Yoga Special 2010!

Surfing legend Gerry Lopez, 2 times world champion Tom Carrol and 9 times world champion Kelly Slater have proved it: Yoga can make you surf better. Yoga improves your sense of balance, increases flexibility and strengthens body tension. All of this combines to make Yoga a perfect companion to good surfing.

We´re starting off each day with a 1,45 h yoga session under the open sky on our roof terrace with sea view.

In Julia´s Surfer Yoga a special focus is put on the core, shoulder and arm muscles in order to improve your paddle power and help you get to your feet quickly when taking-off on a wave. Furthermore we’ll work on balance and concentration - so you feel save and fully present on each wave.

Each session begins with an awareness exercise and the pranayama breathing technique, followed by a warm-up for your body. Then we’ll go into a variety of different sun salutations and powerful asanas that are all weaved together with much love into one dynamic flow.

The session ends with a special stretching routine for the neck and back that you can also use on the beach as a warm-up before you go surfing.

Altogether the yoga sessions give you a lot of strength and joy for a fresh and fit start into the day! :)

Each day we take you to the best surfing beaches in the Peniche area. Instruction is done professionally. Step by step our instructors introduce you to surfing, or help to improve your skills. With 2 sessions a day, theoretical units and video coaching we give you a professional start into this great sport or take you to the next level.

The camp is located only 300m from the beach, has spacious apartments, a terrace with seaview and a patio for BBQs and chilling. In our bistro-lounge we offer breakfast buffet, lunchpacks for the beach, snacks, fruits, and hot and cold drinks as well as internet access.

Julia Surf and Yoga

Julia has been surfing for 5 years and doing yoga for almost 10, so combining the two and developing Surfer Yoga was a natural result.

"Surfing is like meditation on water, just like yoga on the mat - and a lot of movements are pretty similar, so yoga really helps our muscles and overall physical skills when it comes to surfing, and of course it’s perfect for relaxation and stretching after a good surf session…" she says.

Julia has been trained in Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga as well as Yoga Nidra and Pilates. She combines all of her experience and knowledge in her yoga lessons which are characterized by a creative-dynamic style with lots of joy and warmth. 

Julia is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher and owner of Sandhi Yoga studio in Hamburg, Germany (sandhiyoga.com).
