After months of rumours about this year´s Rip Curl The Search Event location, it is official now: Host of the second to last stopp of the 2009 ASP World Tour and it´s 45 contenders for the prestigious world title will be Peniche! From October 19 to 28, the 45 best surfers in the world will battle for points and rankings in the powerful barrels of the infamous Supertubos, know as one of the best and heaviest beachbreaks in the world. The date of the competition in late autumn gives hope for perfect conditions and countless barrels. Being the second to last of 10 World Tour stopps means that there is a big chance to see this year´s world champion being crowned here in the tubes of Supertubos. Besides the top stars such as Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning or Joel Parkinson, the portuguese Tiago "Saca" Pieres and the german Marlon Lipke will battle for points and prestige.
